The National Carpet Museum (ANCM) hosted the cutting ceremony of the dastarkhan (a tablecloth) from the loom. The ceremony organized in the respect of ancient traditions.

The Dastarkhan rug, woven in the traditional technologies department of the ANCM, is a replica of a precious piece kept in the museum’s collection.

It should be noted that it has become a good tradition in the museum to hold ceremonies to cut the rugs and carpets from the loom.

Similar ceremonies were held for the “Chalabi” (Karabakh carpet group), Victory”, “Narli” (Granada), “Khanlig” (Karabakh carpet group) carpets and the “Tirmesayagi” carpet.

Founded in 1967, the National Carpet Museum never ceases to amaze everyone with its beautiful architecture.

Initiated by eminent rug artist Latif Karimov, it is stunning inside and out. The new museum building is designed in the form of a rolled carpet.

The Carpet Museum houses more than 14,000 pieces of the finest Azerbaijani carpets.

The museum hosts multiple events, including international symposia, conferences and various exhibitions.

In 2019, the museum received national status for its significant contribution to the popularization and promotion of Azerbaijani art of carpet weaving.

In 2020, the Carpet Museum enriched its collection with magnificent pile carpets purchased by the Ministry of Culture during the Sartirana Textile Show in Italy.

The 19th century Guba Ugakh carpet was donated to the Carpet Museum, while the Karabakh Chalabi carpet enriched the collection of the Shusha branch of the museum.

The Carpet Museum also focuses on cooperation with world-renowned museum organizations.

Additionally, the Carpet Museum won the Travelers’ Choice Awards for the fourth consecutive time last year.
